2010 WSOP TOC

Poker has come to be one of the most interesting games in the world, thus deserving an all-star event to express the best player. The World Series Of Poker, or World Series Of Poker for short, has set up this tournament with every intention of granting one million dollars to the winner of the 2010 World Series Of Poker TOC; being held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada, during the 41st Annual WSOP. At a press conference, HIE Vice President Ty Stewart expressed his delight of their ability to make a revamped poker game that could involve millions of fans around the world. He went on to explain that the thoughts of several competitors have helped the idea grow. He, as well as fans and people, hope that the tournament will be here for good.

Only 27 individuals will play in the freeroll poker invitational, and seven of them will be decreased after the public votes on their favorite. Voting opened March 15, 2010 and continues until June 15, 2010 precisely at midnight. To qualify, each player must be a WSOP bracelet-holder. Any living bracelet-holder is eligible, and presently there are 521 players with eligibility. With three positions already guaranteed because previous World Series Of Poker Tournament of Champions winners receive guaranteed entry, the reigning World Series Of Poker champ for both America and Europe get seats at the table, as well. That means that this year Mike Sexton, Barry Shulman, Joe Cada, Mike Matusow, and Annie Duke make up five out of the 27 competitors for the event at this US Poker Site.

TOC visitor Annie Duke feels that it is an honor to be part of tournaments, just like the TOC. She has been quoted happily declaring that winning the Tournament of Champions was one moment in her poker career that she will never forget. She is just one of a few competitors that are ecstatic about WSOPs involvement in hosting this event. Following the count of the votes and the announcement of the 20 competitors that will move on, play will begin on June 27, 2010 at the Rio. Once it comes down to the final nine, they will be back on July 4, 2010 to try and claim their part of $1,000,000 and the 2010 WSOP TOC Champion title.

People who do not make it this time are able to try again next year. Also, a grand total of 57 sought-after gold bracelets are up for the taking this year, the same as last year. World Series Of Poker is the richest, biggest, and most important gambling event. It has already given over a billion dollars in awards and bracelets, which is recognized worldwide as the sport’s top prize. If you’ve got the skill, the time, and the poker face; why not try for your seat in the next WSOP tournament?

Full Tilt Poker's Tight-Aggressive Is Always Chic

Tight-Aggressive Is Always Chic

By: Stephan Kalhamer

If a poker player wants an edge, he must move with the times. Today, a style which was successful only a year ago can already be outdated; tomorrow, he could be the sucker.

However, in the poker world (as in the fashion world), there are timeless classics: the little black dress for a woman; the pinstripe suit on a man; tight/aggressive play at the table. Admittedly, this type of player is less likely to knock somebody’s socks off, but he is also far less likely to be knocked out of the tournament himself.

Dan Harrington described this style in his tremendous book, “ Harrington On Hold ’em” and, as a result, it quickly became the worldwide standard. Today’s truly smart tournament players, however, were soon tearing up the rule book and, as a result, modern poker has no dominant strategy. Loose/aggressive is currently in fashion and playing out of position has become the Holy Grail. But again and again the strategies turn back to what poker is all about: bet on a good hand and give up a bad or hard-to-rate one.

As soon as one reflects on it, by focusing his own bets solely on “value” instead of bluffing, a good player wins again and again with safe, tight/aggressive play. Why ever not?

Good players do not make plays simply because they want to or to show that they can. They make plays because they represent the optimal decisions. Poker is ultimately a contest of decision-making; he who consistently makes the best decisions, wins - all the same in which outfit he enters the party.
